We got to a point even 4kidz would have made a better localization.

As someone who's been watching 4kids Pokemon recently let's not oversell 4kids. Anti-ghost stickers and jelly donuts everywhere. Honestly it's something to laugh at so I'm not too hard on Pokemon's localisation since the show isn't great anyway. Kind of like ghost stories.

Thing is about Fates is I don't think they knew the characters outside of "this one is a dragon or something" based on the small snippets of dialogue I've seen. They were focusing on that one trait and that's it, and if not they add really annoying ones to the mix, ie. super dupity dangerous.
Honestly since the localisation can't be salvaged I've moved on from it and I'm just hoping for more bad dialogue to look at and the floods of both salt and fans defending it that come with the territory. It's the easiest approach to take with this kind of thing honestly. I guess I'll wait and see how that fan translation goes.

That's a sad state of affairs.

I doubt they feel positive about having their work changed and mechanics and assets they worked hard on removed or changed, but even if they did feel bad about it, in the end they've got more to lose than gain if they speak up about it. NoJ isn't exactly happy with IS anyway.

Things just haven't been the same since Shouzou Kaga left for FE, and IS has no real genius left in them, just a good concept left by a man Nintendo destroyed.

So probably everyone who goes here probably heard about this but in a recent article by Niche Gamer shows an interview by Rena Strober (who voices Azura in the English Dub) whose voice acting in FE: Fates and during the interview she says this:

Basically she's stating that NOA didn't tell her the actual character or even bother to describe the character she was acting as. Sadly though, now it seems like there's some massive backpedaling on part on NOA, the voice actor, or both. Not only did Rena state on Twitter that she had gotten the character traits and history for Azura, but also was supposedly being "sarcastic" in the interview. That's quite the contradiction if you ask me. Too bad I can't prove it now that the video interview is considered private and cannot be accessed by a regular viewer. I know that probably a lot of people here have seen this, but since it wasn't added here yet, I just wanted to. Seems like they're doing everything to cover their tracks. What do you guys think?

Rena's Tweets: Rena Strober on Twitter: "Sometimes I forget that not everyone understands sarcasm. That's sad."
Rena Strober on Twitter: "@CartridgeGames That's completely wrong! Of course we're given character traits and history. What's this link so I can correct people"

Does anyone have a reupload of the video?

Of course that's backpedaling. Why would Nintendo want anyone to know that, just makes them look bad. And for her, if she's not under an NDA, I doubt she'd want to be on Nintendo's bad side.

I know this is they type of thing they would do in these types of cases, but why does this even have to be something the consumer has to deal with in the first place? If this is true (which I do believe is) the "zero fucks given" mindset the people at NOA are showing is completely lazy and blows my mind that people are finding this acceptable and acting as apologists.

There's also this post by what seems to be her in the comments section of the article. I think it's genuine because she did say on Twitter she was going to "correct" people on the article.

I'd like to know this too. Didn't get to see it and now I feel a bit in the dark.

I think Brandon mentioned on Twitter that he has a downloaded version of it, but he doesn't want to re upload it for a C&D from Nintendo (which I don't blame him for at all).

So what's the story here, Brandon? One of you is lying.

Brandon quoted her verbatim (I verified) from a video that has since been deleted from YouTube for presumed damage control reasons.

Careful there, don't go assuming things without source.

Here's the Twitter conversation I referred to. The timestamps more or less check out. Either that comment is genuine or she still hasn't commented 7 hours later.

Also, damn those "wrong people" who "feed on hate" for quoting her word-for-word. :)

Welcome to the video game industry, do I have to pull up the picture of the steam group named "Boycott Modern Warfare 2" with half the people on the list playing Modern Warfare 2?

They'll accept anything if it means they get to not be mistaken about supporting a company or a game. Most folks want to have their cake and eat it too.

I'm just saying to not assume things without proper confirmation.

Anyway, she talked to Brandon about this? Because if backpedaling on her own recorded words wasn't bad enough, playing the victim like this isn't doing her any favor.

So, is her story that Brandon is lying or grossly misinterpreting her words?

If that's the case, isn't the end result that her and the cast didn't do a good job, at least when it comes to the acting in this game from what we've seen so far? I don't see how that's a better outcome...

She can't decide on that, and now they are trying to take away the video. This whole story smells fishy.

If she was smart, the first thing she would do was to contact Brandon privately and explain that he misinterpreted her words. If she's backpedaling on her own words, well... that would end up on the reader to decide.

But instead she tried to play victim on twitter, as if the article was some kind of smear piece atacking her. And then they decide to take away the video that the article is using as source. I want to give Rena the benefit of the doubt, but she's making it really hard.
